PCU Nurse
$40 Hourly | Location: Illinois
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse to provide specialized care to acutely ill patients requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical expertise, critical thinking, and collaborative teamwork to improve patient outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed patient evaluations using advanced monitors (ECGs, SpO₂, hemodynamics) for early issue detection.
Work with doctors and care teams to create personalized treatment plans.
Deliver and monitor medications, IVs, and respiratory support therapies per critical care protocols.
Instruct patients and families on home care, medication adherence, and follow-up steps.
Use critical thinking to respond to sudden changes in patient status and escalate when needed.
Act as first responder for unit emergencies; perform CPR, defibrillation, and ACLS.
Implement clinical protocols (e.g., sepsis, stroke) and train staff to ensure adherence.
Track patient outcomes and recommend care improvements based on data.
Follow strict hygiene and PPE protocols to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
Maintain thorough patient records using the hospital’s EHR system.
Job Requirements:
BSN Degree from an accredited nursing program
RN license in state of Illinois
Preference for 2-3 years of specialty experience
